Introducing Amazing Paper Grace Sweet Cardlets

What’s a Cardlet, pray tell?  A Cardlet is a small motif, complete with background, sentiment and character that combine to make small card or layers onto a larger card.  We’re delighted to introduce you to the Sweet Cardlets Collection.

Becca Feeken sent over these lovely dies and watercolors for me to try.

Sweet Cardlets show up in a Glimmer format with a matching die.   They are metal plates that are used in the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System to transfer foil to paper through a combination of heat and pressure.  The Glimmer machine base is rolled through your die cut machine to deliver that pressure.  As long as you have a machine that can accommodate thick dies – like steel rule dies, you’re all set. A word to the wise, it is very addicting.  (Compatibility charts on the Spellbinders website)

The Inspiration behind Sweet Cardlets

We gotta fess up here.  There’s no such word as cardlets, yep, Becca straight up made it up.  You have to agree though, it sounds really cute, right?  Well that was the inspiration behind sweet cardlets.  As you can imagine it has something to do with cards and moreover, little cards.

Always mindful of the budget, Becca wanted to create a collection where each set is all you need to make a little card.  Sweet Cardlets are small motifs with a 3″ x 3″ footprint.  Each has a background, a main character and several sentiments.

We found it the right size to fit on an A2 card and even to layer onto an A7 card.  In fact, the 3″ background can be repeated for a long background or a larger background.  Dies cut out each main character and three sentiments with each set give you lots of options.

Each of our Creative Team members will show you their take on cards made with the Sweet Cardlets Collection.  Today we’re all using Jane Davenport Watercolors in some technique to show off Sweet Cardlets.

First up is Amazing Paper Grace Graceful Swan Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set Sweet Cardlets (SKU GLP 236) by Spellbinders

Here is what it looks like:

Am happy to introduce Graceful Swan for this Hop.

I have created a square card using Spellbinders Elegant Twist Square Dies by Amazing Paper Grace SKU  S4-1049 .

Made a focal point using the Glimmer plates and dies using my new Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine. Colored the glimmered diecut Swan in grey and orange for beak colour using new Jane Davenport’s Neutral palette and watercolor brushes. Little bow and a feather to finish off the card.

Made this small 8″ Collapsible lid box for holding little treats, gift cards.

When lifted up, It just opens up wide to reveal the space to put in the contents. I just added a beaded twin to the aperture at the lid and a small bow below to the body of the box. Added the silver glimmered foiled cardstocks which was made using the glimmer plate from Graceful swan. Its matted with the silver mirror cardstock, which complements it nicely.

Silver glimmered the glimmer plate phrase from Spellbinders Heartfelt Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and Die Set by Becca Feeken SKU GLP-219 and die cut it to mount on the box.

Designer’s Tip

Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system is a new addition to my Crafty stash. I visited many Youtube tutorials to educate me much about the ways to use glimmer plates on different substrates first and then started to use my machine.

Must say this helped me so well and I haven’t wasted any glimmering foils during the process of Glimmering these plates.

Here is the Spellbinders video showing amazing new samples as well as a walkthrough of the entire collection.

Introducing Amazing Paper Grace Picot Petite Collection

Amazing Paper Grace has gone back to her roots with classic sewing inspired motifs! Introducing the Picot Petite Collection!

Becca Feeken sent over these lovely dies for me to try.

Over time we’ve had lace-inspired designs and have loved the feel of Hemstitching and Candlewicking. Reminiscent of needlework and treasured handwork proudly displayed, Becca Feeken has developed another classic line of layering shapes that feel so much like tatting or picot crochet.  As you might imagine, these shapes are crisp, clean, and timeless. Whether you are simply adding a classic layer to a card or cutting an aperture to highlight a lovely sentiment – these shapes mix and match with other sewing inspired motifs as well as intricate backdrops.

Today you’re in luck! Our Creative Team is sharing makes from the Picot Petite Collection.

Classic Shapes are Timeless

With each Classic Collection, Amazing Paper Grace creates the most popular die-cutting shapes in oval, round, square, and rectangles. Moreover, these classic shapes mix and match with Hemstitch Classics, Candlewick Classics, Elegant Twist Classics, and now Picot Petit.

The Inspiration behind Picot Petite

If you’ve ever seen tatting, the little loop produced along the edge is called a “picot”.  It’s this little loop that is the basis for the border on all of the Petite Picot shapes.  They are lovely as a backdrop for any other layerings as the little picot peeks out.  It’s just a subtle way to bring in the ways of classic needlework to give texture and dimension to the backdrop of our cards.

Each of our Creative Team members will show you their take on cards made with a classic picot flair.

My Projects For Today

Am happy to introduce Spellbinders S5-433 Picot Petite Oval Etched Dies

I have created a Easel card for this hop. I have used the largest die for the cardbase and smallest one as a stopper. Layered the front panel with the larger and medium die to adorn the card with Handmade flowers.

Die cut the florals in white cardstock, colored them using Distress ink and spritzed slightly with water to shape them.

To make this tiny basket, took the largest oval die and placed at middle of scoring board (6″). Look for the centre and scored 2 lines on either side. Turned around the die-cut and did the same procedure. Cut at scored lines as shown. Fold it to make basket as shown in the image. Placed an oval die-cut for little interest. This tiny basket can be used to fill with little treats and flowers.

Here is the Spellbinders video showing amazing new samples as well as a walkthrough of the entire collection.

Thanks for stopping by!

Floral Layout, Desktop Calendar with Post it notes holder !

Today’s post is not about cards or canvas, rather few gifts with handmade flowers.

Made these for my little one’s teachers and KG supervisior as tomorrow is Open house and we would be meeting all staff and get his progress report, New school uniforms and Books 🙂 He is way more excited to meet his teachers and friends 🙂

This is the picture taken with the class teacher and friends on his 6th birthday and so i felt this would be apt to be framed with some handmade flowers using Spellbinder dies for large blooms and blue flowers are from Cheerylynn Medium Rose die. Leaves are form Spellbinders foliage die and all these are stuck on 8×8 mariposa pp and then mounted to Fabriano Brown CS.

The red blooms are distressed with Worn lipstick DI, Orange blooms from Spiced Marmalade DI, Blue blooms from Tumbled glass DI. There are misted with water, distressed and then shaped.
Now i got it framed too and all set to gift away tomorrow 🙂

Next is the Easel desktop calendars with Post it notes holders.

There are 4.5″ square Easel cards with Spellbinder die Majesty matted for focal panel with few handmade blooms using Cheerylynn Designs Medium rose die and Ivy florish die.

Except the blues, rest of them are made from CLD Medium rose dies and sponged with Colorbox pigment inks.

Hope you like this !!
